Before opening a file you have to launch the NPX Lab program. If you have installed the software with the default options you can find it in you Start Menu: click on the NPX Lab item and a window similar to the following one right will appear.
It shows the program name (NPX Lab) and the main version (1.9.8.303 in the figure). Please, report this number to signal bugs and/or request features. As many features are added weekly, it could happen that something is not working as expected and you can experience crashes. Even if actually this is not a main issue (actually stability is quite satisfactory), you should be aware that it is hard (e.g. time consuming) to test all the program features before a new version is released, especially because this is not a commercial software: in some cases having a new feature is more important than having a 100% stable system and requires less time. Remember that this is not a commercial product, it is available for free! Furthermore, the new features are usually tested with files from the same format (the one of the person that made the request, and you are also warmly invited to make your own requests), so only a limited set of conditions can be tested, the others being supposed to work by deduction. This is the case of the ICA module, that can be used with all the other programs: its implementation requires to retest all the software modules, with all the file formats, with all the procedures, a fact that takes much more time than actually implementing it!
Other information are reported on the same main window, such as the web site address (http://www.brainterface.com), where you can find updates and more info regarding the products family and the main product line to whom the NPX Lab belongs, The BF++ Body Language Framework: it consists of a set of tools and technologies developed to build, analyze and optimize Brain-Computer Interface systems and Human-Computer Interaction systems for disabled people, which includes the NPX Lab Suite.
